Take the calendar and mark this date: Sunday, September 25, 2022. This is indeed the day chosen for Acetaie Aperte 2022, which will see over 40 producers engaged in guided tours, tastings, and many other truly interesting projects aimed at promoting and showcasing the excellence of the black gold of Modena. We are not talking about oil, of course, but something even more precious: the event is organized by the two Consortia for the protection of Aceto Balsamico di Modena IGP and Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale di Modena DOP, which join forces to best enhance this product, one of the must-haves of our Peninsula, with export peaks reaching as high as 92% of annual production.

Organized visits to the acetaie of Modena

The production of Aceto Balsamico di Modena IGP and that of the renowned Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale di Modena DOP is long and rooted in family traditions and the peculiar characteristics of the Modena lowlands. The acetaie are often located in attics, old farmhouses, and ancient family villas, all characteristic places that are mostly reserved for insiders. Therefore, on the occasion of Acetaie Aperte 2022, everyone is given the opportunity to visit these historically rich places, where many families have patiently and dedicatedly managed to create a product with unique characteristics that encompasses a wide range of flavors and aromas, also influenced by the type of wood used for aging in barrels.

Acetaia Marchi will also participate in Acetaie Aperte 2022, renewing its appointment with an event that aims to unite all producers, each with their own characteristics and, of course, their secrets, in order to engage all consumers, both regular and potential, showing them how Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale di Modena DOP is produced and why this product is considered so renowned. Acetaia Marchi will present itself at the event in grand style, with the opportunity to take guided tours starting from the vineyard, passing through the acetaia, and ending in the tasting room, right next to the shop, which will be open all day. For the day of Acetaie Aperte 2022, a small tasting of typical products is planned: tigelle with cold cuts and jams, accompanied by a glass of Lambrusco. Acetaia Marchi has been producing the renowned Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale di Modena DOP since 1910, Aceto Balsamico di Modena IGP, and along with them, other derived products such as saba, balsamic dressings, sauces, compotes, and jams. On Sunday, September 25, there will be the opportunity to taste all these products and hear directly from the producers about the characteristics of each and how to best pair them to enhance their qualities.
